Untitled (Obsidian)

Obsidian

Approx. 9 x 14 x 11 cm

An object that continues the fascination with the use of ‘dark mirrors’, whether obsidian or ink, in occult practices, and which will be displayed on one of the ‘Assemblages’.

While some of the objects so ‘assembled’ might seem to possess some material value — such as obsidian, gold leaf, or industrial diamonds — this is relatively modest. Instead objects will be chosen, or made, which seem to suggest a specific, albeit uncertain, purpose; whether dusted with Johnson’s Baby Powder (like Trobriand warriors) or sprayed with spat-out alcohol, these are works that are activated, and owe more to Performance, than to sculpture.
